Jam Night's.. Every Thursday
'Looks like some of us 'LankyKats' will be going down to Merseycats shortly.. There is interest from a couple of well-known Wigan band lads.. I too am sharpening me drums sticks... so let me know if you too are keen to join in and try a fab night out.. It will probably be in September..' 08450 94 87 95 Bill Hart firstname.lastname@example.org
Open Invitatation.. A special open invitation has just arrived here at Lanky Beat HQ from Bernie Prescott - Chair of Merseycats Rock 'n Roll Children's Charity.. In his offer to Lanky Beat readers and friends.
Bernie offers a "Come down the M57 and join us on our regular Thursday Jam Night at the Aintree Con' Club invitation. We've been raising and donating £thousands for years and playing rock 'n roll to raise it," says Bernie. "We have non-playing members who love to rock and bop the night away too - so everybody enjoys the craic.
You perform too.. In fact, anyone who enjoys performing should arrive early and register with the organisers. A full P A, all the backline amps, keyboards and drums are provided - all you need is your instrument. Singers can usually be accompanied by one of the regular bands or form your own 'scratch' band on the night. Performance time is usually about fifteen minutes but can vary depending on the number of bands on the night. Thirty minute spots are available by prior arrangement."
Merseycats perfom at Formby Live 2011.
"We have a mobile stage so we can take the show on the road anywhere.. and
again this year we are performing at the 2011 Mathew Street Festival on Sunday 28 & Monday 29 August.. so catch some of the Merseycat bands at the floating stage in The Albert Dock," says Steve Faulker - a recent member.
Get involved or sit back..
Also you'll have the opportunity to get involved with dozens of musicians and friend's within the extended rock 'n roll family - of which we all belong to of course. Sitting at home and strumming a few chords every now and again in front of the fire is all very well, but here is an opportunity get up and play in front of a like minded audience every week and make money for kids charitable causes too - I personally can't think of anything better to do for a fab night out.."
To give you some background to Merseycats Bernie explains. "Merseycats was founded over 22 years ago a one-off get-together of Merseyside musician's as a memorial show for the late Merseybeats drummer John Banks. that was way back in in 1989 - In the pic above John is 2nd from the left. A lot of money was raised that night and it was decided by forty or so of us at the time to carry on doing it - and here we are in 2011 - as strong as ever.
Recently, and to move matters forward for us, I contacted Bill Hart at Lanky Beat web site to see if there is anyone out there in Lankyland willing to join us. Non-members pay just £2 admission. Come and sample a unique night out. You don't have to just sit there and listen.. which is fine - you can get up and join in too. We'd love it if you did! We can also come over to you and do a joint charity event your area.. I can just see the future spin-off right now!
Merseycats get it together with..
Rock 'n Roll Forever.
