BEATLE 'GEMS' IN

NORTH LIVERPOOL

Seaforth Village and Litherland in the north docklands are of the city has hosted an intriguing mural of the cities most famous sons - the Fab Four. John Lennon in leather-style garb sets a familiar pose similar to the statue featured opposite in Mathew Street in a traditional setting which lends itself to familiar artwork found in Belfast in Northern Ireland.

Located on Litherland's border with Seaforth Village, it is a two-minute walk from the Southport - Liverpool Mersey Rail Station on Croxteth Avenue. Trains are frequent at 15 minute intervals each way.

Political Loyalist Mark Ervine and Republican Danny Devenny of Belfast worked with Liverpool artists on the gable-end of this home in Litherland. The finished 2008 mural completes a commission by the Riverside Group Housing Organisation for its 80th birthday as part of an inner city regeneration scheme. It was funded to the tune of 10, 000 including a grant from Liverpool Culture Company.

The high garden wall has the interesting figures of Stuart Sutcliffe

and Pete Best looking at the mop-top heads of their former band colleagues.

A stroll along the busy Princess Way Dock Road will lead to Lathom Hall - a thirteen times venue for the Mop-Top-Fabs

The 'Lathom'.

A certain Flower-Power feel grips the visitor in a striking 1967 'Lennonesque' style greeting. This sets the tone for an unforgetable encounter with its amazing interior.

Each Thursday night features The Mersey Rats Show: For 1 Admission you'll get the Mersey Rats charity show featuring many of the 60's Mersey musicians. Take your axe or your drum sticks and you too can give it a go.. or just relax and enjoy.

A 'scratch' band giving it a go in March 2010:

Ken Shalliker - 2010 Dominoes: Bill Hart - Something Catchy Party Band:

'Cosmic' Bob: Elvis Presley & George Eccles: 2010 Dominoes.
