THE BEAT ROUTES
Hey Joe!
"I'm trying to get in touch with an aquaintance of mine. His name is Joe. I've forgotten his surname. He lived in the houses where the Scout Hut was in Liverpool Road, Ashton-in-Makerfield, Wigan.
He would be in his Late 60's or early 70's now. He played bottleneck guitar and often got up and played with Oggie in the Platt Bridge Inn in the 1990's.
He worked at Metal Box in Westhoughton. If anybody knows him can you tell him Phil from Abram is trying to get in touch with him." Contact.. bill@lankybeat.com
Spotted at a recent Lankykats night were three Vaquero'sand a Long & The Short.Gary Roberts, Bob Taylor of L&S. Alan Liptrot and Vaqueros roady Malc' Brown are four former super-stars from the swinging-sixties mega-cult pop-film Gonks Go Beat. Showing off Alan's original pieces of pricless memorabilia - copies of the 'Gonks' LP record and a glossy publicity brochure, they enjoyed a great catch-up, a refreshing pint and a naughty little chuckle or two..

February 2012: Duff News.. The House Of Commons passed a bill last Friday whereby publicans do NOT now need a live music licence if the audience capacity is less than 200. Hopefully this will encourage more live music in pubs. And more opportunities for young musicians.. 'AS LONG AS IT IS NOT AMPLIFIED MUSIC AND WHERE ALCOHOL IS ON SALE!'
SAD BUT TRUE..
LALLY STOTT - THE VAQUEROS
By Malc' Brown:
The Vaqueros Roadie: February 2012
"I'd like to clarify the truth about Lally Stotts passing via Lanky Beat.
Lally died on the 6th June 1977 aged just 32 after being involved in a road traffic accident while riding on his small commuter bike. The bike had been previously stolen and had just been returned to Lally by the police. On his next bike trip a car pulled out in front of him and Lally hit a telegraph pole and he died three days later in hospital.
Lally had only just returned from living in Italy to set up a boutique for his sister and he lived in the large flat above -John Wokky says, 'it was a fantastic place'.
Being totally familiar with scooter riding in Italy, Lally used the small bike for short journey's into town, so naturally he did the same thing here at home in the UK.
It was a great loss to his family and us - his friend's. It was a loss of a great talent and he will never be forgotten."

LANKYTALK..
A Lankykat talks about his mother making tea for Rory Gallagher, jamming with Albert Collins in Florida and stepping in to play bass with John Lee Hooker at the age of 16 in Wigan's Bluesville Club in the 1960's.
Chris Bannister of 'Lost Wax Podcast' interviews legendary musician Michael ‘Mitch’ Mitchinson of Wigan bands Frenz,Ipso Facto and Pokie.
"John. I hope you dont mind me groveling, but it’s really something I feel I must do with you? YOU JUST DONT SEEM TO GET IT? I'm not trying to inflate my ego, nor am I looking for free publicity or a profit making cause or being a greedy one no, no, no. Since I had a mini-stroke in June this year I have been trying to get my message out to those unknowing friends and your radio listeners about my cause..
TO STOP XINGU FLOODING
AND CONSEQUENTLY TO PUT A HALT TO WHAT WILL BE THE
GREATEST ECOLOGICAL CRIME OF ALL TIME.
The Belo Monte Dam project which we’ve temporarily got a halt on, will destroy thousands.. no hundreds of thousands of lives. For this dam is only the first of 60 more such hydroelectric dams planned to destroy the Amazons green fauna basin. You were informed by me of this impending disaster way back months ago. You told me to wait for our radio interview! Hey.. I know Rome wasn’t built in a day, but surely five months waiting, for someone like me who only wants to help all our unborn and our own planetary vessel Earth.
WHY DO YOU JUST KEEP ME HANGING ON?
I MUST RETURN TO BRASIL ANY MOMENT I’M CALLED AGAIN.. TO FIGHT WITH MY FREINDS WHOM I HAVE ALLREADY ADVISED THAT I WILL FIRSTLY TALK ON BRITISH RADIO BEFORE RETURNING TO DO TV AND RADIO INTERVIEWS ALL OVER BRASIL
I am urgently pleading with you as a fellow northerner so called civilised human being. LET’S DO IT NEW YEARS EVE."
