George White: March 2014
"It started in 1976 when two guys from Wigan first heard the Sex Pistols on the p.a. during the interval at a Mink de Ville gig and then seeing the then unknown Buzzcocks at Blackburn's Golden Palms.
Being somewhat jaded with the scene after The Beatles and all the great sixties music, this was what they had been waiting for, so George White, Jim and then Patrick formed the Friggin Brigadiers and with guitars set on 'stun' and a set consisting of all original material, they then proceeded to rock Wigan for the next ten or so years.
They must surely be the most popular and often most overlooked group ever to have existed on the Wigan scene. The fact is that while most Wigan group's went into the social club scene the 'Briggs' continued on the alternative scene with all self-written songs. There must be hundreds of Wiganer's who remember them.. check Facebook out!"
