"My son Paul Carr started a group in 1980 called The Cruz. His drummer was Neil Aspinall who has been with the band through all these years. They changed their name to Vera Cruz after a short while until the present day and it remains the same. There have been band member changes along the way but Neil has been steady all those years. Paul had also left to pursue other interests.
Not long ago he handed the job over to his young son Tom who is a great little drummer which made Neil feel very proud and on 19th Febuary last, Neil went to watch his son play with Vera Cruz at the Boars Head pub in Leigh where he was invited up to play the last number with the band as a friendship token. Whilst doing so he suffered a heart attack and later died. A total tragedy, such a lovely man, respected as a drummer father and friend."
