"After membership of Kathy & The Boleros I formed The Blue Chips in Little Hulton around 1963. We played the usual blues r+b stuff of the day and had a decent enough line-up with myself on Framus bass and Dave Nightingale on Hofner Verithin and harmonica. We also had a very talented player on Harmonica who's name escapes me at present. The ex-members are all still around and I am still in touch with them apart from the harmonica player, of whom I'm told, is a successful artist/designer in London.
At that time we knew how to make a reasonable racket but hadn't a clue on how to find gigs so Brian Grant and Dave Nightingale both joined my new friend Rod Gerrards band Hells Angels from Salford. I believe they made several appearances at Room at the Top, Wigan, with that line up. Eventually when they split Rod Gerrard joined Green Onions from Farnworth with myself and after parting company with their original singer/harmonica player and taking a complete change of musical direction we became Outrage and also played at Room at the Top opening for The Wheels and alongside Tony Owens Night Train.
